Alan Ruth has a 35+ year history in healthcare and private sector management, which began with his position as Vice President of Operations at York Central Hospital in Ontario, Canada (now Mackenzie Health). Upon leaving the hospital, Mr. Ruth founded several successful companies, including Healthcor Inc., Infoquest Technologies Inc., Infitrak Inc and GRTHealth Inc. These companies innovated in their respective industries, focusing on health services planning, technology prototyping, and wireless monitoring and alerting.
As a health care consultant, Mr. Ruth worked on numerous utilization and operational planning projects across Canada. They included a 4-year contract in Nova Scotia, in which he reported directly to the Deputy Minister of Health and was responsible for managing the restructuring of the provincial hospital system.
In addition to his healthcare work, Mr. Ruth has been a founding partner in several successful start-up technology companies, including Infoquest Technologies and Infitrak. These companies focused on RFID and infra-red tracking applications, as well as wireless monitoring in the cold chain and pharmaceutical industries. Most recently, Alan is a founding partner in GRTHealth, which builds upon his broad expertise, and focuses on wireless in-home patient monitoring and alerting.
Mr. Ruth’s work and expertise have been recognized with his affiliation at the University of Toronto, as an adjunct lecturer in Finance, and at Ryerson University, as a guest lecturer in geospatial planning and marketing. Mr. Ruth has publications in the New England Journal of Medicine and the ICES 2nd practice atlas. He has also made many ‘by invitation’ presentations to conferences, including the Canadian Institute of Health Information and the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine.
